William Williams (1862-1947) commission for migration of Elis Island Immigration Station from New York gathered between the years 1906-1914 a collection of 97 photos. Among the portraits are six Romanian immigrants, dressed in folk costumes. Images were published in National Geographic in 1909. These 3 Romanians who left at the end of the world are fascinating, like leaving the ballad “Miorita” (a Romanian folk poem).

COMMENTS ON THIS DOCUMENT:

The photos included in the National Geographic shown the fact that at the beginning of the century Romanians prefer to emigrate in USA countries.
