Bloody Foreigners: the story of immigration to Britain since the last ice age (Book)
Robert Winder
Abacus 2005 London
Book
English
The book tells the story of immigration to Britain since the last ice age with the second half covering 20th century immigration and the ensuing economic, social and political consequences. There are chapters on the main identifiable phases of immigration and their influence on contemporary Britain.
The title ‘Bloody Foreigners’ is used with some irony since while it highlights the existence of less tolerant attitudes to newcomers, the book as a whole is a testament to the diverse nature and character of the British people.
The book holds a wealth of information to support an analysis of the causes and effects of immigration. There is a small collection of black and white photographs.
