The website has 3 main areas: Timeline, Themes and Places.
The 1950’s and 1990’s sections in the Timeline make reference to the causes and consequences of immigration to London.
Themes includes:
• Communities – featuring the history of the ethnic diversity of the city.
• Identity and Icons – including reference to the Nottinghill Carnival and the Chinese New Year parade.
• Migration and Citizenship – values the economic benefit immigration has brought to London.
Places links to objects, stories and images from all of the London boroughs via an interactive map with links to oral histories and related subjects.
This is a superb partnership website aimed at making collections more accessible. It is easy to use and gives access to thousands of articles, images and audio clips collated from London museums, libraries and archives.
