DESCRIPTION OF CONTENTS:

In 1937 several thousand children from the Basque region of Spain were temporarily evacuated to Britain to escape the Spanish Civil War.
Some never returned to Spain.
The ‘Through My Eyes’ online exhibition sets the evacuation in context and tells the stories of some of the children affected.

COMMENTS ON THIS DOCUMENT:

First hand reports of memories and experiences of some of the children brought to Britain in 1937.
There are links to accounts by Vietnamese Boat Refugees, Holocaust survivors, Kenyan Asians, Bosnian and Kosovan Albanian refugees, survivors of the Rwandan genocide and Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs affected by the partition of India
