As part of the website Migration to Besancon. History and memory, the table jus soli - jus sanguini (birthright) presents, starting from the example of an immigrant "Zigor, his children and grandchildren, all born in France, the impact on their "nationalities" according to the changing laws in France from 1789 to 2002.
The document clearly highlights the conditions to access to citizenship for immigrants in France and their offspring born in France over three generations, and this according to various laws enacted in France since 1789.
For "Zigor" foreign-born and resident in France: can acquire French nationality after a period ranging from 3 to 10 years, subjected to certain conditions.
As for his children Jurgi and Alona «Zigor’s children, both born in France: are declared French citizens or shall apply for it.
For "Naïa" "Jurgi’s daughter» and Zigor’grand-daughter "" declared French citizen from 1889. Between 1851 and 1889, can still apply for the nationality of her father / grandfather.
