COMMENTS ON THIS DOCUMENT:

The National Archive Cabinet Papers web pages provide an opportunity to study the political debates around key issues relating to immigration in the mid 20th century.

The fact that many of the papers were secret reflects the sensitive nature of the issue of immigration at the time particularly in the light of developing policy in race relations.
