Integration covers all efforts which serve to promote mutual understanding between the Swiss and foreign populations: Living together on the basis of shared fundamental values and behaviour patterns and information are central concerns. The process of integration requires both the foreign nationals' readiness to be integrated and openness on the part of the Swiss population. Integration aims at creating favourable conditions for equality of opportunity regarding access to social and economic resources.
