DESCRIPTION OF LAW CONTENTS:

This reform of the nationality law includes significant changes: the addition of the origin principle to the Geburtsortsprinzip and shortening the periods for naturalization. The German nationality law complies with European standards, which Germany ratified the European Convention of 6 November 1997 has known about the nationality. are with the Immigration Act on 1 January 2005 was the most important rules in a naturalization law - the Law on Citizenship (Nationality Act merged) -.

To the increased significance of social integration into account, with Article 5 of the Act to Implement Residence-and Asylum-Related Directives of the European Union (Directive Implementation Act ") of 19 August 2007 additional adjustments have been made, such as the inclusion of a further condition for naturalization naturalization ("knowledge of the laws and social system and way of life in Germany"). As proof of such knowledge was 1 September 2008 with the naturalization test regulation of 5 August 2008 a federal common citizenship
