Turkish in France. Family album
ELELE Organization
Editions Bleu autour 2007
Book
French
Portrait, or rather a self-portrait of thirteen Turkish families settled in France.
The book is built around the story of a "central figure", the person who for various reasons (political refugee, economic immigrants' ...) decided to emigrate. Each portrait consists of photographs from family albums, and "testimonies". It includes among other things the reasons of their departure, but also travel stories, from Istanbul, on the banks of the Black Sea or from the heart of Anatolia to Paris, Vesoul or Quimper.
This book permits to take up vividly the Turkish immigration in France. The Turkish community in France represents nearly 400,000 people, that is to say the second after the one established in Germany.
The ELELE organization (Turkish word meaning "together") is behind the book that was co-edited with “ the blue editions” around and the support of the ACSE (National Agency for Social Cohesion and equalities of opportunities) and DRAC of Ile de France. This organization’s goal is the integration of the Turkish peoples in France and to carry out training, information, mediation and communication missions and conduct social, educational, extracurricular and cultural social activities.
