William Williams (1862-1947) commission for migration of Elis Island Immigration Station from New York gathered between the years 1906-1914 a collection of 97 photos. Among the portraits are six Romanian immigrants, dressed in folk costumes. Images were published in National Geographic in 1909. These 3 Romanians who left at the end of the world are fascinating, like leaving the ballad “Miorita” (a Romanian folk poem).
The photos included in the National Geographic shown the fact that at the beginning of the century Romanians prefer to emigrate in USA countries.
